The elegant Sakhya Sagar and Madhav Sagar lakes, the George Castle hunting lodge, and abundant marsh crocodiles give the park a distinctive character. Recently declared a tiger reserve with reintroduced tigers, Madhav is emerging as an exciting new destination that pairs wildlife with the heritage and landscapes of the Gwalior region.
Best Time to Visit
October to June, with the cooler months from November to February pleasant for boat safaris and birdwatching, and summer offering better mammal sightings.
Zones
The park is explored on forest drives around the Sakhya Sagar and Madhav Sagar lakes and the surrounding hills, with boating available on the lakes to view crocodiles and waterbirds.
How to Reach
The nearest airport is Gwalior (about 110 km) with a railhead at Shivpuri close by. Madhav is easily reached by road from Gwalior in around two to three hours.
