Tipeshwar Wildlife Sanctuary lies in the Yavatmal district of Maharashtra’s Vidarbha region, a compact block of teak and bamboo forest that has quietly become one of central India’s most reliable tiger destinations. Its healthy prey base and productive breeding tigresses have made Tipeshwar a source population that disperses tigers into the wider landscape, and its relatively low tourist pressure means excellent, unhurried sightings. Easily paired with Tadoba and Pench, it rewards travellers looking for strong tiger action away from the busiest reserves.
November to June, with the hot summer months of April to June offering the highest tiger activity around waterholes, and the cooler winter months pleasant for comfortable safaris.
Safaris enter through the Sunna and Mathani gates, exploring the compact core on jeep tracks that wind through teak forest and open meadows.
The nearest airport is Nagpur (about 160 km) and the nearest railhead is at Pandharkawada or Yavatmal. Tipeshwar is reached by road from Nagpur in around three to four hours.
New shared safaris coming soon.
Bengal tiger, leopard, wild dog, wolf, jackal, spotted deer, nilgai, chinkara, wild boar, and a good variety of woodland birds and raptors.
