Mukundra Hills, also known as Darrah National Park, lies in the Hadoti region of south-eastern Rajasthan near Kota. Declared a tiger reserve, it spans a corridor of forested hills, plateaus and river valleys along the Chambal and its tributaries, forming an important link for tiger movement between Ranthambore and other central Indian forests.
The reserve’s mixed deciduous woodland supports leopards, wolves, sloth bears, chinkara, nilgai and a growing tiger presence, while its rivers and gorges add dramatic scenery. As one of Rajasthan’s newer and quieter reserves, Mukundra offers an uncrowded wilderness experience, typically accessible from October to June.
